Driver Receives Accolades for Efforts with Motorsports Program

Jackson Heights, NY—United Spinal Association Director of Sports and Recreation Bill Hannigan (seated, left) presented Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, NY, with a handsome plaque for his continued efforts both on and off the track for United Spinal’s Motorsports program. Joining Hannigan at the presentation was Director of Marketing and Communications Devera Lynn. Justin was also named 2006 NASCAR Modified Rookie of the Year at the Annual Riverhead Raceway Banquet.

The mission of United Spinal’s Motorsports program is to encourage people with disabilities, including individuals who use adaptive automotive equipment, to participate in competitive motor sports. The program also hopes to cultivate partnerships within the motor sports industry to help raise awareness about spinal cord injuries and disorders.

United Spinal Association is a national not-for-profit organization enhancing the lives of people with spinal cord injuries and disorders. The Association sponsors a wide variety of wheelchair recreational and adaptive sports programs guided by the belief that the benefits of participating in sports are no different for athletes with disabilities than for the able-bodied. Membership is free and open to all individuals with disabilities of the spinal cord.
