Naples, FL— United Spinal Association announces Keith G. Reimers appointment to National Service Officer for United Spinal Association. In this newly created position Reimers manages the organization’s field office at the Naples Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Naples, Florida.

United Spinal Association appoints Keith Reimers as National Service Officer in Florida region.

Leonard Selfon, National Service Director stresses the importance of Reimer’s presence in Florida, “Keith represents the spearhead of United Spinal’s expansion of its veterans services program across the country. In the past few months, we have increased our service capacity from having VA-accredited service officers in four states to fifteen states and Washington, D.C. We are in the process of placing service officers in another eight states, and plan to continue our expansion until we have established a nationwide network of representatives to assist veterans and their families in securing the benefits and health care that they so vitally need.”

Reimers has been a national service officer since joining United Spinal’s staff in 1992. His responsibilities include, preparing, presenting and prosecuting claims before the Department of Veteran Affairs on behalf of veterans who are disabled and their dependents. Other duties include hospital advocacy work, advocating on behalf of the veterans for health care related issues, including pharmacy, prosthetics, healthcare, and denied benefits.

Reimers, a native of Tonawanda, New York, is a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a staff sergeant during the Persian Gulf War. He was awarded numerous decorations, including the Southwest Asia Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, Kuwait Liberation Medals (from the Saudi Arabian government and the Kuwaiti government), Outstanding Unit Award with Valor (bronze “V”), Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal, among others.

“My passion is helping my fellow veterans receive the benefits and assistance they are entitled to,” Reimers says.

Veterans who need counseling about claims before the VA, or who want more information about United Spinal programs or how to become a member, contact Reimers at 239-455-6488.

United Spinal Association was founded in the New York City metropolitan area in 1946 by returning World War II veterans with spinal cord injuries who joined together and dedicated themselves to building meaningful and productive lives for all individuals with disabilities. Today, 60 years later, this national veterans service and disability rights organization continues to empower not just our brave veterans but all Americans with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D) through our dedicated services and programs. The Association has contributed millions of dollars over the years towards research and finding a cure for SCI/D.
