Cary Castle Joins United Spinal as Dir. of Development
Jackson Heights, NY- United Spinal Association has appointed veteran fundraiser Cary Castle as their new Director of Development. Castle, with over 25 years of fundraising experience, will be responsible for generating contributions and foundation grants to support the mission of United Spinal Association.
Executive Director Paul J. Tobin noted, “We are delighted to welcome Cary to the United Spinal family. Cary brings wide and varied experience in the world of fundraising. His skills and talents, and the enthusiasm he has for our work and mission, will greatly assist at this pivotal moment in our history when we are making strides to serve ever greater numbers of Americans with spinal cord injuries and disorders.”

“I am looking forward to helping strengthen United Spinal’s fundraising efforts,” said Castle. “My goals include developing broader based programs in direct mail and major gifts, while working to cultivate enhanced corporate and foundation grants. Greater priority will be given to acknowledging the association’s most important resources—namely its donors and members.”
Prior to joining the organization, Castle was president of Direct Mail Check Up, a New York-based consultancy. He is also the former director of fundraising for Consumers Union, the largest independent tester of consumer products and services in the United States and publisher of Consumer Reports magazine.
Castle was a past board member of the Direct Marketing Association’s Non Profit Federation and is a current member of the Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association. He was selected as one of the 100 most influential individuals in direct marketing by Target Marketing magazine. Castle is also an editor at large for both Fundraising Success magazine and Subscription Marketing newsletter.
Raised in New Rochelle, NY, Castle earned his Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Toledo. He currently resides in Queens, NY with his wife and 15-year-old daughter.
