United Spinal Now Offers Associate Membership
Jackson Heights, NY–– Approximately 700,000 Americans have disabilities related to the spinal cord including spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, polio, spina bifida, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Since 1946, United Spinal Association has been committed to enhancing the lives of individuals with spinal cord disabilities, free of charge, through various outreach activities, services and programs.
United Spinal is now introducing an exciting new initiative through an Associate Membership program. This offering will reach out to the larger community of people impacted by spinal cord injuries and disorders. “With our Associate Membership program we’re inviting family members, caregivers, advocates, and community and business leaders to join the United Spinal family,” said Marlene Harmon-Perkins, Director of Outreach & Member Programs. “The criterion for Associate Membership is simple––anyone who believes in and wants to support the mission of United Spinal Association. We welcome everyone who shares our commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders.”
For an annual donation of $25, Associate Members will receive United Spinal’s popular e-newsletter, United Spinal Today; access to the Association’s full-service travel agency, ABLE to Travel, and access to the Nationwide Roadside Assistance program of the American Drivers Alliance Auto Club. “The $25 annual gift from Associate members will be used to support training and outreach programs; advocacy campaigns, sports and recreational programs, and more,” Harmon-Perkins said.
As an added bonus, Associate members can also receive United Spinal’s monthly membership magazine Action for an additional $14 above the $25 tax-deductible donation. Associate members will receive Action’s timely, lively, and informative articles and editorials on life with a spinal cord disability.
