American Paraplegia Society to Present At Largest Spinal Cord Injury Conference in North America

New York––American Paraplegia Society (APS) will present their 53rd annual conference at the 2007 North American Spinal Cord Injury Conference and Disability Expo (NASCICDE). This educational and networking event will bring together over 1,200 multidisciplinary professionals dedicated to the care, treatment, research and rehabilitation of individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D).

Hosted by United Spinal Association, the conference will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Florida from August 27 through August 29, 2007. It will feature over 80 platform and poster presentations, the latest in clinical interventions, advances in SCI research in assistive technology and evidence-based practice, clinical advances in spinal cord injury care, aging with SCI and much more.

All professionals will have an opportunity to advance their knowledge in the field with featured speakers. Keynote speaker will be world-renowned neuroscientist Wise Young, MD discussing “Obstacles to Overcome in the Quest to Cure SCI.” Other speakers include Mary Bunge, PhD, speaking on “Combination Therapies to Improve Repair of the Injured Spinal Cord,” as well as Bruce Dobkin, MD and Naomi Kleitman, PhD. For those who qualify, CME, CMU or CE credits may also be earned by attending.

The conference will also feature a special expo with over 100 exhibitors representing assistive technology, pharmaceutical companies, medical and health care supplies, van conversions, recreational and travel services, publishers, as well as a variety of professional and disability organizations. For the first time, a new consumer conference, Creating Your Future: Living With A Disability, will be included at the NASCICDE. The consumer expo will target issues common to all individuals with disabilities
