United Spinal Association Urges a True Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day
Jackson Heights, NY—For the seventh consecutive year, United Spinal Association will join the White House Commission on Remembrance in urging Americans to take a moment on Memorial Day to reflect upon the true meaning of the national holiday—to honor those who gave their lives serving in our Armed Forces.
The National Moment of Remembrance will take place on Memorial Day, May 28 at 3 PM, local time. At this time, the public is asked to pause and personally reflect on those who died in service to our country. Participation in the Moment is voluntary and informal. Suggestions on how individuals can observe the Moment include ringing a bell to signify the beginning and end of the Moment; if you are driving a vehicle, turning on your headlights.
“United Spinal Association is proud to be working with the White House Commission on Remembrance to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day,” said Paul J. Tobin, United Spinal’s president and chief executive officer. “It is especially poignant during this time of divisive war, that all Americans, despite their political beliefs, take the time to recognize, honor, and give thanks for the enormous sacrifices these men and women have made for our country, and memorialize those who died serving it.”
United Spinal proudly serves veterans every day through our VetsFirst program. A network of expert national service officers provides assistance and representation in claims for benefits and services before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as before other agencies and the federal courts.

ABOUT UNITED SPINAL ASSOCIATION:
United Spinal Association was created over 60 years ago by a group of paralyzed World War II veterans to assert their fundamental civil right to the same opportunities their countrymen enjoyed and through their efforts to secure better health care, accessible public buildings and transportation, and equal opportunities in the workplace, those veterans continued serving their country long after leaving the battlefield and today that legacy lives on in United Spinal Association’s expanded mission to serve not just our brave veterans but all Americans living with paralysis or other mobility impairments.
