United Spinal Association’s Wheelchair Medic Donates Two Scooters to Connecticut’s Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration

A Mystic Aquarium visitor takes his pick of scooters donated by United Spinal Association’s Wheelchair Medic division.
“Our mission is to inspire people everywhere to care about and protect our oceans by exploring and sharing their biological, ecological and cultural treasures. We have so much to share, and accessibility is so important if we are going to fulfill our mission,” said Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration Director of Public Relations David Labbe. “We are proud to have been able to increase accessibility on our campus, and we are grateful for United Spinal’s Wheelchair Medic program.”
Based in Fort Totten, NY, Wheelchair Medic has been in operation for more than 25 years offering both sales and services for power and manual wheelchairs, scooters, high-performance sports chairs, and accessories. Many of its clients are veterans who have wheelchair repairs or adjustments done at Wheelchair Medic satellite shops in VA medical centers in the Bronx, NY and Castle Point, Montrose, Bricktown and East Orange, NJ. A fleet of five repair vehicles are dispatched daily directly to customer homes in New York City, Long Island, and parts of New York State and New Jersey.
“I am glad the scooters will be used by everyday people who might not otherwise have had the chance to enjoy the natural sites of Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration because of their disability,” said Wheelchair Medic Director Ray Grim.
