Let’s Take A Trip: Travel Planning for the Wheelchair User
Jackson Heights, NY – Because most Americans love to travel, United Spinal Association will host a timely seminar at this year’s disability conference on August 27 and 28 in Orlando, Florida, about important considerations for wheelchair and scooter users when they make travel arrangements.
The accessible travel session will help wheelchair users by providing relevant tips and pointers on planning and scheduling, asking the right questions, and getting what you need in order to enjoy your next vacation or business trip. During these challenging times—weather, terrorist threats, etc.—planning can be frustrating and stressful for many.
Three experts in the field will share insights about accessible travel for persons with disabilities:
• Stephanie Acosta, CTC, Corporate Travel Manager, United Spinal Association;
• Sandra Cammaroto, Director, Office of Screening of Persons with Disabilities/Homeland Security–Transportation Security Administration; and,
• Skip Scribner, President–Advanced Aeromedical, Inc.
Stephanie Acosta stated, “Proper preparation for wheelchair users is vital when it comes to traveling. This session will provide great insight and will serve as an effective tool.” Although it is the airlines responsibility to accommodate passengers with disabilities, each individual should also be adequately prepared by ensuring that any assistive devices being taken along are well-protected.
The conference is being held at the luxurious Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL. For more information on special discounts on airfare, car rentals, and area attractions, click on the ABLE to Travel link on the conference website, www.sciconference.org.
