United Spinal Association to Provide Training About Accessible Housing Units for Persons with Disabilities at Upcoming Kentucky Affordable Housing Conference

On Wednesday, September 12th, from 2:00 PM through 5:15 PM, United Spinal Association’s Director of Accessibility Services, Dominic Marinelli, will present two separate workshops—Residential Accessibility 101, Parts 1 and 2—about the design requirements for multi-family housing buildings that can be used by individuals with disabilities.

Mr. Marinelli’s training sessions are part of the Kentucky Affordable Housing Conference, which will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center and the Marriott Louisville Downtown from September 11 through 13.

Mr. Marinelli’s presentation will focus on the technical aspects and common mistakes in the design of public and common use areas in multi-family housing buildings, and in the individual dwelling units in such buildings. While a number of national building codes and standards will be covered, the focus will be on the federal Fair Housing Accessibility Guidelines and the newly-adopted Kentucky Building Code.

While the time period to pre-register for the Kentucky Affordable Housing Conference has passed, individuals may still attend the conference by registering on site at the Marriott Louisville Downtown, beginning at noon on Tuesday, September 11, and beginning at 8 AM on both Wednesday, September 12 and Thursday, September 13. For more information, call Ms. Brenda Langan at the Kentucky Housing Corporation at (800) 633-8896 or (502) 564-7630, ext. 490, TTY 711.

United Spinal Association’s Accessibility Services program is devoted exclusively to making our building environment accessible to all people with disabilities. Dominic Marinelli and his staff of registered architects and certified examiners provide training, consulting, and code enforcement services on a nationwide basis.
