United Spinal & Aetna Foundation To Hold Free Wheelchair Clinic At Harlem Hospital

The United Spinal Association’s Wheelchair Medic division will conduct a FREE wheelchair and scooter repair clinic at Harlem Hospital in New York City on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, thanks to a generous grant from the Aetna Foundation.

United Spinal Association believes that sustaining mobility through the use of safe and well maintained wheelchairs and mobility scooters can promote independence, maintain the health, and help to empower persons with disabilities. It is for this purpose that United Spinal and the Aetna Foundation have undertaken these free clinics.

Wheelchair Medic expert mechanics will be available to complete free tune-ups for all attendees. Information on how to maintain your wheelchair or scooter will also be provided.

Should a major repair be needed, all clinic attendees will receive a 10% discount coupon (on parts and new sales) that can be utilized at the Wheelchair Medic repair center in Queens, although there is no obligation to do so. Wheelchair or scooter pick-up and drop off can be arranged.

Harlem Hospital is located at 506 Lenox Avenue (at 136th Street), New York, NY 10037 and the clinic will be in the Martin Luther King Pavilion-Room 3101 (Day Room). The clinic hours are 10am to 4pm.
