Murderball, a film about wheelchair athletes that has garnered numerous awards and nominations, including Audience and Special Jury awards for best documentary at Sundance last year, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature this morning in Los Angeles.

In recognition of Girls and Women in Sports Day, United Spinal Association, a national disability rights organization, in partnership with the New York Liberty of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), announces the formation of the United Spinal Liberty women’s wheelchair basketball team.

The top wheelchair basketball teams in the east converge on Hackensack, New Jersey to battle the United Spinal Association Nets for the 11th Annual Al Youakim Wheelchair Basketball Invitational Tournament championship title.
