The rehabilitation program for spinal cord injury or neurological diseases at Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital is based on a continuum of care. Individual patient needs are continuously reassessed during the rehabilitation process and care plans are adjusted as patients progress through the rehabilitation continuum. Care is available an In-Patient and Out-Patient basis.

LTAC & Medical Rehab

Traditional hospitals are a first stop for most patients. They offer a wide range of care to stabilize patients by treating apparent conditions and addressing primary needs on a short term basis. However, not every patient recovers in five days or even two weeks. Long-term acute care hospitals (LTAC) offer a specialized second, or transitional, step toward extended care and recovery for patients who need it.

Medical rehabilitation is similar to LTAC except it is for patients who need higher levels of therapy and practice to relearn skills and new ways of living on the road to recovery. In these programs, we teach our patients about how to live a happy, healthy life, and equip them with the tools necessary to thrive and live independently once again.

Personalized & Compassionate

Our caring medical personnel understand how intimidating hospitals and medical care can seem. Our healthcare professionals work hard to ensure all our patients have a comfortable and pleasant medical experience. If you ever have any questions or concerns, either ask one of our doctors or any of our staff and we will be more than happy to help you out. In addition, we strive to make sure all our patients fully understand their condition, how it is affecting them, and what the available options for treatment are, before they make a decision as to how they wish to proceed.

Although we see, diagnose, and treat thousands of patients on a daily basis, we make sure each and every patient is given the proper amount of care and attention that they are owed. With us, you will never have to question if you are receiving sufficient healthcare services because we will be with you every step of the way. Our personalized method of care is evident in all the work that we do. We strive to get to know you as a person because they better we understand you, the more effective our individualized treatment plans can be. At Vibra Healthcare, you are never just a patient number, you’re family.

Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal cord injury can result in paralysis of the muscles used for breathing; paralysis and/or loss of feeling in all or some of the trunk, arms, and legs; weakness; numbness; loss of bowel and bladder control; and numerous secondary conditions including respiratory problems, pressure sores, and sometimes fatal spikes in blood pressure. Approximately 12,000 new spinal cord injuries occur in the U.S. each year. A majority of injuries occur from motor vehicle accidents, falls, work-related accidents, sports injuries, and penetrations such as stab or gunshot wounds.

Our Membership Community

Our membership community provides a lifeline for many individuals that are focused on regaining their independence and improving their quality of life––whether they are leaving rehab after sustaining a spinal cord injury, learning to live with symptoms of a spinal cord disorder, or have spent years of frustration coping with disability. We provide members guidance and resources on a variety of topics they are passionate about, such as employment, affordable housing, transportation, health care, home- and community-based independent living, education, peer support, and leisure and recreation.
