Raising MS Awareness Year-Round
By Tom Scott, United Spinal Association Staff Editor
March 8–14 marks National Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week.
As we reflect upon the progress toward finding a potential cure for multiple sclerosis (MS), United Spinal is committed to continue helping individuals overcome this disease, improve their quality of life, and discover the very best treatment options.
United Spinal’s Multiple Sclerosis Quarterly Report publication, produced with support from the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC–www.mscare.org)/North American Research Committee on MS (NARCOMS– http://narcoms.org), provides the latest information on research and clinical trials, as well as breaking news and in-depth feature articles covering a wide-range of MS topics.
Published since the early 80s, MSQR has a rich history, providing valuable research-oriented content and expanding United Spinal’s impact on the MS community. CMSC/NARCOMS has played a vital role in the success of MSQR over the years and the dissemination of pertinent information on MS to the publication’s 30,000-plus readers nationwide––including patients, health care professionals, veterans, and caregivers. United Spinal is proud of our partnership with CMSC/NARCOMS and fully back the extraordinary work they do to develop, not only better treatments for MS, but a greater understanding of the disease.
NARCOMS is responsible for developing an MS Patient Registry that is the largest of its kind in the world and offers participants the opportunity to be proactive in shaping future research and ultimately finding a cure. The primary purpose of the Registry is to facilitate multi-center research in the broad field of MS. Much of the Registry’s initiatives is highlighted in MSQR, providing hope to thousands of people living with MS.
United Spinal also maintains the MS Scene (www.unitedspinal.org/msscene/) Web site geared toward the online MS community in search of the latest information on MS from MSQR and other trusted publications and news sources. Updated regularly, MS Scene is the pulse of major MS-related news and research taking place around the globe.
