Tell Us What You Think –
Provide Input into Emergency Preparedness Education for People with Disabilities
The American Red Cross, working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is developing educational materials on terrorism and emergency, covering five major preparedness topics, including:
-
1. Mass Evacuation and Evacuation Planning for People with Disabilities and their Caregivers.
2. Emergency Water and Food Supplies.
3. Shelter-in-Place During Chemical or Radiation Emergency.
4. Quarantine and Isolation.
5. Maintaining a Healthy State of Mind.
This is your opportunity to offer feedback and input before they are finalized. Through a series of small focus groups, we are gathering the thoughts and opinions of people with disabilities to learn more about how emergency preparedness information may best address specific experiences and concerns.
You Can Be A Part of It! Here is What You Need to Know:
• The focus groups are being conducted over the internet – you can participate from home, from work, or any place you have access. You will need a high-speed internet connection and keyboard, monitor or other equipment for receiving and responding to questions from a moderator.
• During part of the discussion you will interact with the moderator and other focus group participants by phone as well as by internet so you will need to connect to the internet and make a phone call at the same time.
• The focus group will last approximately 1 ½ hours.
• Approximately 6 people will be assigned to a focus group, allowing for in-depth discussion of the materials.
• You will receive $50.00 in appreciation for your participation in the focus group. This will be mailed to you immediately following the focus group.
If you are 18 years of age or older and severely mobility impaired, you are eligible to participate in focus groups scheduled on Monday, June 26 and Thursday, June 29.
