By now you have received, and hopefully have had the opportunity to review, proposed bylaw changes mailed to you last month. With the change in our organization’s name three years ago and our expanded mission, it was essential to overhaul our governing and procedural rules.
The proposed revisions were the result of lengthy review and deliberation by a board-appointed committee composed of board members and members-at-large whose knowledge and experience we hold in the highest esteem.
I am confident that the resulting document brings our organization up-to-date in the world of nonprofits, strengthens our organizational structure, safeguards fiscal integrity and accountability, and makes provision for a bright future. The comment period to receive your input expires on January 15. At its regularly scheduled meeting on January 31, the board of directors will deliberate further on this issue. If approved, the revised bylaws will affect the nomination and election of directors and officers in June, 2007.
Thank you for your participation in this important process. Winter Travel being the theme of this month’s Action, I can only say, if you are planning to take a winter vacation and have not yet gotten around to contacting a travel agent, I urge you to call United Spinal Association’s ABLE to Travel at 888-211-3635.
