As persons who have had to adapt to a disability, we may have had to reinvent ourselves. Many of us may, in the process, have found hidden talents we didn’t know we possessed. Luckily, the creative process knows no barriers and is only enriched by our individual experiences.
In my own life, I am grateful for the opportunity to use my prior training and experience, both personal and professional, to lead this organization through its biggest growth process in its 60-year history. The challenges this poses are major, but not insurmountable. I’m fortunate to have at my disposal a dedicated staff and board of directors who know our organization’s roots and history and who share my passion for our cause.
This brings me to publicly acknowledge and thank outgoing board members who have unselfishly devoted many years of their lives to our organization: Kent Hogan, who served as employee, board member, secretary, and treasurer; Victor Cullen, who also served as employee, vice president, and board member; Larry Crawford, who had the distinction of being elected by a majority as soon as he relocated from Texas to his native Pennsylvania. What these gentlemen had in common was a desire to use their experience and renewed strength to give back to their younger counterparts. Thank you, gentlemen, for your fine example of service. May you be blessed in your future endeavors!
I wish all our members a good summer and hope you will be stimulated to dabble in or take advantage of the arts at our disposal.
Paul J. Tobin
President and Chief Executive Officer
