Being able to get from point A to point B is crucial to the independence of people with disabilities and to reaching our potential as active members of the communities we live in. United Spinal recognized this early on and took Herculean measures to ensure that the needs of our members were taken into account by public transportation authorities, airline companies and transportation providers in general.

We now specialize in accessible travel with our ABLE to Travel Program. People with disabilities and representatives of the travel industry consult with us daily for advice on transportation options and accessibility information. We have become both respected adversaries and colleagues in the travel and mass transit industries. For some time now, we have advocated for accessible taxis, which have become the norm in some major cities around the world. The progress we are making seems slow, but we are on the map championing the need for accessible taxis nationwide. All of our efforts are geared toward: increased transportation options, enforcement of our civil rights as Americans with disabilities, and fostering our independence.
