Throughout this issue you will find various activities to help keep body and mind healthy. We all need to discover activities we enjoy that promote physical and mental well being. Finding that hobby or activity that captures our enthusiasm and practicing it consistently can’t help but result in both. I’m fortunate that my interests run the gamut and afford me ample opportunity to focus my energy and decompress. I scubadive, play tennis, and handcycle. I paint and grow orchids; and I take the time to get just the right light for that perfect photograph. Many years ago I was an avid runner. I’m able to recapture some of that exhilaration through handcycling. From my house in upstate NY, I can ride through back roads and travel 20 to 30 miles by lakes, waterfalls, and old farm buildings.
I encourage you to find healthy recreational outlets, whether it’s a hobby, daily meditation, swimming, or pushing your wheelchair along a path that calms the mind and promotes quiet reflection. Taking the time to do something enjoyable will energize you and give you confidence and clarity of mind to perform tasks in both your personal and professional life.
Be well. Be as active as you can be.
