LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: October 2007

An Artist Writes

What a wonderful surprise! When I saw the June Action in the mailbox, I quickly went to the table of contents. I was overjoyed to see my work (’A United Spinal Gallery‘). I want to thank you for this opportunity to show off my best.

I am receiving great feedback from family and friends across the country. Thank you for this fantastic exposure. I appreciate your magazine and feel quite honored to be part of it.

Please extend my thank you the rest of the Action staff.

MS Veterans

The Arizona Chapter, Paralyzed Veterans of America, wishes to offer greetings to one and all. My name is Benjamin Garcia. I am a veteran who has been living with multiple sclerosis since 1982. It was not until the year 2001, however, with assistance from the Arizona PVA, that I learned that I was eligible for benefits from the Veterans Administration.

This letter is to inform others with MS who are veterans that you may be entitled to medical and possible financial assistance from the Veterans Administration. Low cost prescriptions, grants to cover specialized home adaptations, vehicle modifications, and durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, can be a possibility.

The PVA provides national service officers, who will fight for your benefits at no cost to you. The PVA has been in service to veterans with spinal cord injury and disease since 1947. These medical benefits rarely will interfere with current medical coverage.

This writer understands that living with MS can be devastating, but the benefits that are available can greatly improve your quality of life. Contact us at the following numbers 602-244-9164, 1-800621- 9217 or visit our office at 8126 N.23rd Ave. Suite J, Phoenix, Arizona 85021.

Benjamin Garcia, President, Arizona PVA

Note: Members of United Spinal who are veterans can also contact our own national service officers in New York, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Silver Spring and Tampa, who are connected with a nationwide network of service officers. For contact information, go here.
