Inaugural Bikin’ the ‘Boat Adaptive Cycling Camp for People with Disabilities July 6-8, 2010
This three-day cycling event is a unique opportunity for people with physical disabilities to learn about both adaptive hand cycling and adaptive mountain biking

Steamboat Springs, CO (July 6-8, 2010) – Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports (STARS), in cooperation with Adaptive Adventures announces the Inaugural Bikin’ the ‘Boat Adaptive Cycling Camp for people with disabilities and their families in Steamboat Springs, Colorado from July 6-8, 2010. The camp provides opportunities for adults and children with physical disabilities to enhance their quality of life in the Rocky Mountains.
This camp is a three day camp targeting people with disabilities of all ages, looking to improve their skills, socialize, experience the thrill of hand cycling and/or up and down hill mountain biking. These athletes have physical disabilities including, but not limited to: amputations, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, autism and visual impairment. Coaches for the camp will include experts from STARS and Adaptive Adventures, and in addition the camp will feature local adaptive sports enthusiast Craig Kennedy.
“The STARS camps are among the best camps that we are involved with,” says Joel Berman, Adaptive Adventures executive director. “Steamboat is really stepping up to the plate to bring in new camps and opportunities to welcome people with disabilities from all over the world.”

With Steamboat focusing its efforts on being a bike-friendly town through new trail building, new bike lanes, and the 7-mile Yampa Core Trail, this is truly a perfect time for this event to enter into the list of sporting camps that STARS offers.
The event will also feature paraplegic Army Veteran and founder of the Freedom For Life Foundation, Darol Kubacz. Darol was part of an 18 man team that climbed Mt Kilimanjaro on adaptive mountain bikes in both 2006 and 2008, and will bring four One-Off Handcycles to town for the Mt Biking portion of the event. Hand cycles will be provided by Adaptive Adventures.
