Pseudobulbar Affect in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis

Location: Multi-centers in the US

Purpose: This study will test the safety and efficacy of an investigational medication in the treatment of patients with MS suffering from pseudobulbar affect (a condition characterized by frequent episodes of uncontrollable laughing and crying that are out of proportion with the underlying emotion; also called excessive emotionalism or emotional lability).

Eligibility: Women and men who are 18 to 68 years of age with a confirmed diagnosis of MS and who have pseudobulbar affect. A number of inclusion and exclusion criteria will determine your eligibility.

Procedures: Study-related tests including physical exam, EKG, and clinical labs are provided at no charge.

Benefit: May result in a new treatment for pseudobulbar affect in patients with MS.
